The Gender Identity field has been added to the patient demographic fields with the values listed by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Gender Identity value is displayed with the patient demographic information but does not affect billing. The selection in the Sex field continues to be required for billing purposes.
To Locate Gender Identity field When Editing a Patient.
Select from the drop down list to assign a value to this field.
To View Gender Identity Field in the Patient Chart.
If left blank, the field is populated with ‘Unknown’ in the patient chart.
